Youth Orchestra Host Cellist Emmanuel Feldman
The Metrowest Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Gilbert R. Trout,
will perform a free concert at 3pm on May 19, 50 Oakland Street in
Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts. MetYSO, founded in 2000, is a member of
MassBay's Cultural Alliance, and is open to musicians under 21 through audition.
The orchestra will be joined by cellist
Emmanuel Feldman,
MetYSO's Artist-in-Residence this season. John Williams, conductor laureate of the Boston
Pops called Mr. Feldman, "an outstanding cellist and truly dedicated
artist" while the Boston Globe said, "Emmanuel Feldman's tone
is as beautiful as it is enormous..."
Mr. Feldman has performed with the Boston Pops, the Boston Philharmonic, the
Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, and with vocal recording artist, Bobby McFarrin.
He is co-founder of the Axiom Duo with double bassist Pascale Delache-Feldmans
with whom he has performed in concerts in the U.S. and abroad, with eleven new
pieces commissioned by the duo to date. Currently, Mr. Feldman teaches cello at
Tufts University School of Music and the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.
The MetYSO concert will feature Mr. Feldman performing the Haydn C Major
Concerto with the orchestra, culminating his work with the orchestra during
the rehearsal period. The program will also include Borodin's Polovtsian
Dances from Prince Igor, and Sheep May Safely Graze by Johann
Sebastian Bach, arranged by William Walton.
