Youth Orchestra Host Cellist Emmanuel Feldman

The Metrowest Youth Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Gilbert R. Trout, will perform a free concert at 3pm on May 19, 50 Oakland Street in Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts. MetYSO, founded in 2000, is a member of MassBay's Cultural Alliance, and is open to musicians under 21 through audition.

The orchestra will be joined by cellist Emmanuel Feldman, MetYSO's Artist-in-Residence this season. John Williams, conductor laureate of the Boston Pops called Mr. Feldman, "an outstanding cellist and truly dedicated artist" while the Boston Globe said, "Emmanuel Feldman's tone is as beautiful as it is enormous..."

Mr. Feldman has performed with the Boston Pops, the Boston Philharmonic, the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, and with vocal recording artist, Bobby McFarrin. He is co-founder of the Axiom Duo with double bassist Pascale Delache-Feldmans with whom he has performed in concerts in the U.S. and abroad, with eleven new pieces commissioned by the duo to date. Currently, Mr. Feldman teaches cello at Tufts University School of Music and the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.

The MetYSO concert will feature Mr. Feldman performing the Haydn C Major Concerto with the orchestra, culminating his work with the orchestra during the rehearsal period. The program will also include Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from Prince Igor, and Sheep May Safely Graze by Johann Sebastian Bach, arranged by William Walton.

The public is cordially invited to attend the concert free of charge. For more information, please call Executive Director Jenifer Drew at 508-359-1399. Directions to the college are available on MetYSO.org.
