MetYSO (Metrowest Youth Symphony Orchestra) Performs Winter Concert
The Metrowest Youth Symphony Orchestra (MetYSO) will perform its annual
winter concert on Sunday, December 14, 2003, 3:00 p.m. at Massachusetts Bay
Community College, 19 Flagg Street, Framingham. Under the musical direction of
Gilbert R. Trout, MetYSO will perform Fingal’s Cave Overture by Mendelssohn as well
as the Nabucco Overture by Verdi. MetYSO, currently in its fifth year, is
comprised of twenty-six musicians ranging in age from 10-18. Admission to
the concert is free, and the facility is wheelchair accessible.
"Fingal’s Cave Overture is a beautiful musical piece designed to illustrate
Fingal’s Cave in Scotland, while the Nabucco Overture is full of big brass
sounds," said Gilbert Trout. "This program is both exciting and
challenging for our orchestra and I am very proud of what they have been able to
accomplish since we began rehearsing in September."
MetYSO continues to recruit talented, young musicians. Auditions will be held on
Sunday, January 4, 2004 from 12-2 p.m. For more information about MetYSO, visit
the orchestra’s website at MetYSO.org or call 508-359-1399.
Directions to the college are available on MetYSO.org.
